Terms of Service

1. Who we are

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you (“you”, “Customer”) and CEF TECHNOLOGY LLC, a company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States, with registered office at 1603 Capitol Ave., Ste. 310, Cheyenne, WY 82001, USA (“CEF”, “we”, “us”).

They govern your purchase and use of SRT Gateway by CEF (the “Software”), the website srt-gateway.com, and the management panel at srt-gateway.cef-technology.com (the “Panel”).

By purchasing, activating a license, or using the Software, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not purchase or use the Software.

2. What the Software does

SRT Gateway receives SRT and HLS streams and delivers UDP (unicast and multicast) and HLS output, for continuous 24/7 delivery. It runs on Raspberry Pi and Linux/Ubuntu hardware that you provide and operate.

We describe the Software’s capabilities on srt-gateway.com and in the product documentation. We do not promise features that are not described there.

3. Accounts

To purchase, you need an account on the Panel. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials secure, and to be responsible for everything done under your account.

You must be at least 18 years old and have authority to enter into this agreement — on your own behalf or on behalf of the organization you represent.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, that is used unlawfully, or that has unpaid invoices beyond the grace period described in section 6.

4. Licenses

The Software is licensed, not sold. Your rights to use it are set out in the End User License Agreement (EULA), which forms part of these Terms.

In short, and without replacing the EULA:

  • A license authorizes one device, identified by its MAC address.
  • A license key is issued when your payment is received, and becomes bound to a device the first time it is activated.
  • Once bound, a license is not transferable to different hardware, except through a rebinding handled by our support team.
  • A device without an active license does not register and delivers no signal.

5. Plans, prices and taxes

We currently offer:

PlanPrice (USD)Billing
DemoFree30 days, evaluation only, not for commercial use
Subscription$59 per deviceMonthly
Subscription$590 per deviceYearly
Lifetime$750 per deviceOne-time

Prices are in US dollars and are shown exclusive of any taxes unless stated otherwise. You are responsible for any taxes, duties or levies applicable in your jurisdiction, other than taxes on our income. Where we are required to collect tax, it is added at checkout.

We may change prices. Changes do not affect an active subscription until its next renewal, and we will give you reasonable notice before a renewal at a changed price.

6. Payment, renewal and non-payment

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. Your use of Stripe’s payment services is also subject to Stripe’s own terms.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period — monthly or yearly, as chosen — until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal.

If a payment fails:

  1. We attempt to charge again over a retry period.
  2. During that period your service continues to run, and your license is marked past due.
  3. We notify you by email at the address on your account.
  4. If payment is still not received after 3 days, the license is suspended and the device stops delivering signal.

You can restore a suspended license by paying the outstanding amount.

7. Cancellation and refunds

Cancellation and refunds are governed by our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

In short: you can cancel a subscription at any time and it remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for; there is a 14-day refund window on first purchases.

8. Updates and support

Subscription plans include technical support and all software updates released while the subscription is active, as described on srt-gateway.com at the time of purchase.

Lifetime licenses run the version available on your purchase date. They do NOT include later updates, and they do NOT include technical support. Later versions may require a new purchase. This reflects what is stated on our pricing page.

Service levels, where applicable, are described in our SLA at cef-technology.com/sla/.

9. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • The hardware the Software runs on, its power, cooling and physical security.
  • Your network, bandwidth, firewall configuration and internet connectivity.
  • The content you transmit through the Software, and holding all necessary rights to transmit it.
  • Complying with all laws applicable to your broadcasting or distribution activity.
  • Keeping a way to be reached: service notices, payment problems and license keys are sent by email to the address on your account.

Our Acceptable Use Policy sets out what you may not do with the Software.

10. Intellectual property

The Software, the Panel, the documentation and the website, including all copyright, trademarks and other intellectual property in them, belong to CEF or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership to you. You receive only the rights expressly granted in the EULA.

11. Warranties and disclaimers

We provide the Software with reasonable skill and care, and we warrant that it will substantially perform as described in our documentation.

Beyond that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Software is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will operate correctly on hardware, networks or with third-party streams outside our control.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or loss of goodwill, even if advised of the possibility.
  • Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms is limited to the amounts you paid to us for the affected license in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Please read section 12 carefully. Broadcast interruptions can carry consequential losses far larger than the price of a license. This clause allocates that risk to you, which is why we also design the Software to keep running through payment problems and network outages rather than stopping.

13. Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, damages and reasonable costs arising from the content you transmit through the Software, from your breach of these Terms, or from your unlawful use of the Software.

14. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your license if you materially breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or if payment remains outstanding after the grace period.

Where the breach can be cured, we will give you notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure it first, unless the breach is unlawful or causes immediate harm.

On termination, your right to use the Software ends and the affected devices stop delivering signal.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will publish the updated version at srt-gateway.com with a new effective date, and where changes are material we will notify account holders by email at least 30 days in advance. Continuing to use the Software after the change takes effect means you accept it.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. The courts located in Wyoming have exclusive jurisdiction, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any competent court to protect its intellectual property.

If you are a consumer resident in a jurisdiction whose law grants you rights that cannot be waived by contract, nothing here removes those rights.

17. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the EULA, the Refund and Cancellation Policy, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us on this subject.
  • Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
  • No waiver. Not enforcing a right on one occasion is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
  • Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control.

End User Licence Agreement

1. This is a license, not a sale

CEF TECHNOLOGY LLC (“CEF”) grants you a license to use the SRT Gateway software (the “Software”). CEF retains ownership of the Software. You acquire only the rights described here.

This EULA forms part of our Terms of Service. Where they conflict on licensing matters, this EULA governs.

2. What you may do

Subject to payment and to these terms, CEF grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Install and run one instance of the Software on one device per license.
  • Use it to receive SRT and HLS streams and deliver UDP and HLS output, for your own broadcasting or distribution purposes, including commercial ones.
  • Make a reasonable number of backup copies of the installer.
  • Access the Panel to manage the devices covered by your licenses.

3. One license, one device, one MAC address

This is the core rule of our licensing, and it reflects how the Software actually works:

  • A license is bound to a device’s MAC address, a unique identifier of its hardware.
  • A license key is issued when your payment is received. It is unbound until first activation.
  • On first activation, the key binds permanently to that device’s MAC address.
  • A bound license is valid for that specific device and cannot be moved to another.
  • A device without an active license does not register and delivers no signal.

Hardware replacement. If a device fails or is replaced, contact [email protected]. We may rebind your license to the new hardware at our discretion. Rebinding is a support action, not an automatic right, and we may limit how often it can be done.

License verification. The Software verifies its license periodically over the network. It caches the result and continues to operate during a defined offline grace period, so that a temporary loss of connectivity does not interrupt your delivery.

4. What you may not do

You may not:

  • Use the Software on more devices than you hold licenses for.
  • Copy, modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works of the Software, except as permitted by mandatory law.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, or attempt to derive its source code, except to the extent that mandatory law expressly permits it despite this restriction.
  • Circumvent, disable or tamper with the licensing or license verification mechanism, or use a license key you did not lawfully obtain.
  • Rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, distribute or make the Software available to third parties as a service, unless you have a written reseller or multi-tenant agreement with CEF.
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark or proprietary notices.
  • Use the Software in breach of our Acceptable Use Policy or of applicable law.

Circumventing license verification is a material breach. It terminates your license immediately and may give rise to claims for damages and for infringement of intellectual property.

5. Demo licenses

Demo licenses are granted for three (3) days, for evaluation only. They are expressly not for commercial use and carry no warranty, no service level and no support commitment beyond best effort. All other terms of this EULA apply.

6. Subscription licenses

A subscription license is valid only while the subscription is paid and active. It includes technical support and software updates for the duration of the subscription.

If the subscription ends — by cancellation, non-payment or termination — the license ends with it, and the device stops delivering signal.

7. Lifetime licenses

A Lifetime license is perpetual: it does not expire and does not require renewal, subject to your continued compliance with this EULA.

It runs the version available on your purchase date. Later versions are not included, and neither is technical support; obtaining them may require a new purchase. You may continue to use the version covered by your purchase indefinitely.

Perpetual does not mean unconditional: a Lifetime license can still be terminated for material breach, and is still bound to one device.

8. Third-party components

The Software may include third-party components licensed under their own terms, including open-source licenses. Those terms apply to those components and, where they grant you broader rights, they prevail over this EULA for that component. A list of such components is available on request from [email protected].

9. Updates

Updates we make available become part of the Software and are governed by this EULA. We may make an update mandatory where it is needed for security, licensing integrity or continued operation.

10. Term and termination

This EULA takes effect when you first activate a license and continues until terminated.

It terminates automatically if you materially breach it. Where the breach can be cured, we will give you notice and a reasonable opportunity to do so first — except for breaches of section 4 relating to circumvention or unlawful use, which take effect immediately.

On termination you must stop using the Software and remove it from your devices. Sections 1, 4, 10, 11 and 12 survive termination.

11. Warranty and liability

The warranty, disclaimer and limitation of liability in sections 11 and 12 of the Terms of Service apply to this EULA in full, and are incorporated here by reference.

12. Governing law

This EULA is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, as set out in section 16 of the Terms of Service.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

In short

Refund window14 days from your first purchase of a license
RenewalsNot refundable — cancel before the renewal date instead
CancellationAny time. Service continues until the end of the period you already paid for
DemoFree, so nothing to refund
How to askEmail [email protected] from your account address

1. Try before you buy

We offer a free 30-day Demo with all features unlocked, for evaluation. We strongly encourage you to use it before purchasing. It is the best way to confirm that the Software works with your streams, your hardware and your network.

2. Refunds on first purchases

If you purchase a Subscription or a Lifetime license for the first time and it does not work for you, you may request a full refund within 14 days of the purchase date.

To request one, email [email protected] from the email address on your account, telling us your license key and what went wrong. We usually reply within two business days.

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, through Stripe. Your bank may take a further 5–10 business days to show it.

When we refund, the license is revoked and the device stops delivering signal.

3. What is not refundable

  • Subscription renewals. Once a renewal has been charged, that period is not refundable. You can cancel at any time to prevent the next renewal — see section 4.
  • Purchases outside the refund window.
  • Licenses terminated for breach of our Terms of Service, EULA or Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Cases where the Software works as documented but does not suit your project. This is what the free Demo is for.

4. Cancelling a subscription

You can cancel at any time from your account in the Panel, or by emailing [email protected].

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep full use of the Software until then — we do not cut off service you have paid for. After that date, the license is suspended and the device stops delivering signal.

Cancelling does not produce a partial refund for the unused part of the current period, unless you are also within the refund window in section 2.

5. Lifetime licenses

A Lifetime license is a one-time purchase, refundable within the same 14-day window. After that it is not refundable, because the license has been issued and cannot be returned.

It does not renew, so there is nothing to cancel.

6. If a payment fails

We do not treat a failed payment as a cancellation.

  1. We retry the payment over a retry period.
  2. Your service keeps running during that time, and we email you about it.
  3. If payment is still not received after 3 days, the license is suspended.
  4. Paying the outstanding amount restores it.

7. Chargebacks

If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us first at [email protected]. We will almost always resolve it faster than your bank can.

Opening a chargeback without contacting us may result in the immediate suspension of the associated licenses while the dispute is investigated.

8. Statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under mandatory law in your jurisdiction, including any statutory right of withdrawal that may apply to consumers.

Delivery Policy

1. What you receive

SRT Gateway is software. There is nothing physical to ship. What you purchase is one or more license keys, delivered electronically.

Each key looks like this:

SRTG-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

You need one key per device.

2. When it arrives

Immediately after your payment is confirmed — normally within a few seconds, and in any case within a few minutes.

Your license key is delivered in two places at once:

  1. By email, to the address on your account.
  2. In your account on the Panel at srt-gateway.cef-technology.com, where it remains permanently available.

We deliberately show the key in your account as well as emailing it, so that a lost or filtered email never leaves you without your license.

3. Hardware is not included

We do not sell or ship hardware. SRT Gateway runs on equipment you provide:

  • Raspberry Pi 4 or Raspberry Pi 5
  • A Linux/Ubuntu server

Hardware requirements are set out in the product documentation at srt-gateway.com/manual/.

4. Installing and activating

  1. Install the Software following the documentation. The installer needs no password or key — it is openly accessible, because the license is the sole authorization.
  2. Note the device’s MAC address, shown in the installation summary.
  3. Activate your license key against that device. The key then binds to that MAC address permanently.

Full instructions are in the manual, chapters 5 to 8.

5. If your key does not arrive

Check your spam or junk folder first, and check your account on the Panel — the key is always there.

If it is in neither place, email [email protected] with the email address used for the purchase. We will resend it. You will not be charged twice, and a delivery failure on our side is never a reason to buy again.

6. Wrong email address

If you gave an incorrect email address at purchase, contact [email protected]. We can verify the purchase through Stripe and redeliver to the correct address.

7. Delivery failures and refunds

If we cannot deliver a working license key to you at all, you are entitled to a full refund, regardless of the refund window in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Acceptable Use Policy

This policy sets out what you may not do with SRT Gateway. It forms part of our Terms of Service, and breaking it can cost you your license.

It is deliberately short. The principle behind it: you are responsible for what you transmit, and for having the right to transmit it.

1. Content

You must not use the Software to receive, process or deliver content that:

  • You do not hold the necessary rights or licenses to transmit. This is the important one. SRT Gateway moves other people’s video for a living; make sure it is yours to move.
  • Infringes copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights.
  • Is unlawful in the jurisdictions where it originates or is delivered.
  • Depicts child sexual abuse, or incites violence, terrorism or hatred.
  • Is intended to defraud or deceive its audience.

We do not monitor your streams — the Software processes them on your own hardware and we never receive them. This clause is about your responsibility, not our surveillance.

2. The Software and its licensing

You must not:

  • Circumvent, disable or tamper with the license verification mechanism.
  • Use a license key you did not lawfully obtain, or share a key beyond the device it is licensed for.
  • Run the Software on more devices than you hold licenses for.
  • Resell, sublicense or provide the Software as a service to third parties without a written agreement with us.
  • Reverse engineer the Software, except where mandatory law permits it.

3. Networks and infrastructure

You must not use the Software to:

  • Attack, overload or disrupt any network or service, including sending UDP multicast into networks you do not control or have permission to use.
  • Gain unauthorized access to any system.
  • Distribute malware.
  • Evade bandwidth limits or terms imposed by your own connectivity providers.

Multicast deserves particular care. Misconfigured multicast can saturate a network that does not belong to you. Confirm you have permission for the addresses and interfaces you configure.

4. Our systems

You must not attack, probe or overload the Panel or our license verification service, attempt to access another customer’s devices or data, or automate requests to our services in a way that degrades them for others.

5. What happens if you breach this policy

Depending on how serious it is, we may:

  1. Contact you and ask you to fix it.
  2. Suspend the affected licenses.
  3. Terminate your licenses without refund.
  4. Report the matter to the authorities, where the law requires it.

For anything that is unlawful or causing immediate harm, we may act first and explain afterwards. Otherwise we will normally contact you first and give you a reasonable chance to put it right.

6. Reporting abuse

If you believe someone is using SRT Gateway in breach of this policy, tell us at [email protected] with as much detail as you can.

Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible for your data

CEF TECHNOLOGY LLC, a company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States, with registered office at 1603 Capitol Ave., Ste. 310, Cheyenne, WY 82001, USA, is the controller of the personal data described here.

Contact for privacy matters: [email protected]

This policy covers srt-gateway.com, the management panel at srt-gateway.cef-technology.com, and the support we provide by email.

2. What we collect

When you contact us

Name, email address and whatever you write in the message. Our contact form is processed on our own infrastructure at Cloudflare and delivered by Google Workspace to [email protected].

When you create an account on the Panel

Email address, name, password (stored hashed, never in readable form), and your organization if you give it.

When you buy

Billing name and address, country, and tax identifiers where required.

We never receive or store your full card number. Payment is handled by Stripe, and card details go directly from your browser to Stripe. We receive only a payment reference, the last four digits, the card brand and the result.

When you use the Software

  • Device identifiers, principally the MAC address, which is how licensing works.
  • Device status, software version and IP address, as shown in the fleet panel.
  • Operational metrics: stream status, RTT, jitter, bandwidth.
  • Log entries about license verification.

What we do not collect: the content of your streams. SRT Gateway processes your video and audio on your own hardware. We do not receive, store, record or inspect it. The Software has no recording or DVR capability at all.

When you visit the website

srt-gateway.com is a static site. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request data including IP address, for security and delivery. See section 8 on cookies.

3. Why we use it, and on what legal basis

PurposeDataLegal basis (GDPR terms)
Provide the Software and the PanelAccount, device, licensingPerformance of a contract
Verify licenses and prevent unlicensed useMAC address, license, logsContract + legitimate interest
Take payment and invoiceBilling, payment referencePerformance of a contract
Send service email — license keys, payment problems, renewalsEmail addressPerformance of a contract
Provide supportWhatever you send usContract + legitimate interest
Comply with tax and accounting lawBilling, invoicesLegal obligation

Service email is not marketing. We send you license keys, payment failure notices and renewal reminders because you have an active relationship with us and you need them. You cannot unsubscribe from those while your service is active — but they are the only emails we send unless you separately ask for others.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

We share only what is necessary, with:

ProviderWhat forWhere
StripePayment processing, subscriptions, invoicingUSA / global
CloudflareWebsite hosting and delivery, contact form processing, anti-spam checksGlobal
Google WorkspaceOur mailboxes and contact form deliveryUSA / EU
StripePurchase receipts and payment noticesUSA / global

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our terms, or in connection with a merger or sale of assets — in which case we will tell you.

5. International transfers

We are established in the United States, and our providers operate globally. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Brazil, your data is transferred outside your country.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details.

6. How long we keep it

DataRetention
Account and license recordsWhile your account is active, then 3 years
Invoices and payment records7 years, or as tax law requires
Support correspondence3 years
Device operational logs12 months
Contact form messages2 years

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it.

If you are in the EEA or UK you may also complain to your supervisory authority. In Brazil, the LGPD grants comparable rights. In California, the CCPA gives you rights of access and deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them — and, to be explicit, we do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.

Some data we cannot delete on request: we must keep invoices for tax purposes, and we must keep the MAC address associated with an active license for the license to work at all.

8. Cookies

The marketing site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. The Panel uses a session cookie, strictly necessary to keep you logged in. Full detail in our Cookie Policy.

9. Security

We protect your data with HTTPS everywhere, hashed passwords, access controls on the Panel, and by keeping card data entirely out of our systems.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

10. Children

The Software is a professional broadcast product, sold to businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

11. Changes

We will publish any update here with a new date, and notify account holders by email of material changes.

Cookie Policy

1. The short version

The marketing site srt-gateway.com sets no cookies of its own. It is a static site with no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

The Panel at srt-gateway.cef-technology.com uses one cookie, and only to keep you signed in.

2. What a cookie is

A small text file a website stores in your browser. Some are essential for a site to work; others track you. We use the first kind, and not the second.

3. What we actually use

CookieWhereWhat it doesTypeLifetime
Session cookiePanelKeeps you signed in and secures the form you use to payStrictly necessarySession, or until you sign out

Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent, because without them the service you asked for cannot work.

Stripe

When you pay, Stripe may set cookies within its own payment fields to detect fraud and to keep the payment secure. These are set by Stripe, not by us, and are governed by Stripe’s privacy policy. They are necessary for payment to function.

Cloudflare

Our website is delivered by Cloudflare, which may set a security cookie to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated attacks. This is a security measure, not tracking.

4. What we do not use

  • ❌ Advertising or retargeting cookies
  • ❌ Social media tracking pixels
  • ❌ Cross-site tracking of any kind
  • ❌ Selling or sharing browsing data

Note for whoever maintains this page: CEF is considering Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and privacy-preserving — if that is what gets enabled, this section stays accurate. If Google Analytics 4 is ever added instead, this policy must be rewritten and a consent banner becomes necessary. Do not enable GA4 without doing both.

5. Managing cookies

Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies — usually under Settings → Privacy.

Blocking the Panel’s session cookie means you will not be able to sign in, because there is no other way for the Panel to know who you are between one page and the next.

6. Changes

If we start using cookies for anything beyond what is described here, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
